Abstract Coding Interface

A VS Code extension where you write pseudocode and a small local model turns it into real code, one block at a time.

When
2026
Built with
TypeScript, VS Code, Ollama

ACI is a slightly better way to code with AI. You don't chat with a model and paste what it gives you. You write a specification in a pseudocode format called PSyx, in a .aci file, and a local model compiles it into source code in a pane beside it.

The idea

The specification is the source of truth, and it stays readable. The model only does the mechanical part, translating one block of pseudocode into one block of code. That is a small enough job for a cheap model running on your own machine.

  • Only what changed is recompiled. Edit one function's pseudocode and only that function goes back to the model. The rest of the file is left alone.
  • The target language is a setting. The same PSyx file compiles to Python, TypeScript, Go, Rust, C++ and others.
  • It works on existing code. A project can be annotated so ACI knows where its blocks are, and new blocks can be placed relative to them.
  • It runs offline. It talks to Ollama, or to any server that speaks the OpenAI API.
